Domain Availability Checker

Check whether a domain is already registered or available to buy with quick links to register it if it's free.

Server-assisted public lookup

Tip: try other extensions too .com, .net, .io, .co, .dev

What is the Domain Availability?

A domain availability checker tells you whether a domain name is already registered or free to purchase - the same check a registrar runs before you buy. It is used when brainstorming a brand, launching a project, or grabbing matching extensions for a name.

This tool queries live RDAP registry data: if the registry has no record of the domain, it is available; if a record exists, it is taken (and the registrar and dates are shown). When a name is free, quick links let you register it at popular registrars. To plan around a taken domain's renewal, use the Domain Expiry Checker.

How to use the Domain Availability

Enter the domain you want (for example mynewsite.com) and click Check Availability.

If the result is available, use one of the registrar links to register it before someone else does. If it is taken, you will see the registrar and expiry date. Try other extensions too - .net, .io, .co, .dev - to find a free match.

Note: availability is based on registry records via RDAP. A handful of TLDs do not support RDAP availability checks; for those, confirm at a registrar.

Frequently asked questions

It queries the official RDAP registry. If the registry returns "not found", the domain is unregistered and available. If a record exists, the domain is taken.
It reflects authoritative registry data, so it is highly reliable for common TLDs. A few registries do not expose RDAP, in which case confirm directly at a registrar before purchasing.
This tool does not sell domains, but when a name is available it links you straight to trusted registrars (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun) to complete the purchase.
Possibly later. Check its expiry date with the Domain Expiry Checker; if the owner does not renew, it eventually returns to the market. You can also try a backorder service.
Yes. The lookup runs in your browser against public RDAP data. We do not log or store the domains you check.
